The County Government of Vihiga has budgeted Kshs 200 Million for education bursary across the county. The County Bursary Fund will be administered by a Ward Bursary committees. Applications for Ward bursary committee members began on 2nd January 2018, submitted to the Ward Administrators. Election of members will be conducted on 10th January, 2018. The Governor urges people of Vihiga County to elect credible people for these positions who will execute their duties diligently without bias. The Governor Meeting Cyprian Mogore, from Kapchemugung Primary, who scored 375 marks in last year's KCPE from a needy family. Cyprian has secured admission at Nyang'ori Boys High school. The Governor is sponsoring his secondary education, investing in the future leadership of Vihiga County & the Nation.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in Vihiga County are set for a major boost from the county government.
The County Government of Vihiga is set employ Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers as a measure aimed at strengthening the capacity and delivery of ECD education in Vihiga County once the new governance system is up and running; with the inclusion of a directorate of ECDE and a Chief Officer to formulate policies and bills that will be enacted to govern the growth and development of the ECDE sector.
There is need for the construction of modern ECDE classrooms and rehabilitation of existing ones to meet the required standards as well as equipping the classrooms with adequate furniture and learning materials to pupils for effective learning process.
The governor and the teachers resolved to further explore a way for the county government and the ECDE parents coming together and agree to fund the ECDE feeding program continuously to ensure there was no interruption on the education of an ECDE child.
