INAUGURAL NYANZA INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT CONFERENCE

Accompanied by H.E. Wilberforce Kitiezo – Deputy Governor Vihiga County today, we attended the inaugural Nyanza International Investment Conference (NIIC) held today at Ciala Resort in Kisumu County.
The three-day event has brought together hundreds of Local and International Investors, Leaders and Government Policy Makers to unlock the multi-billion investment opportunities not only within the Nyanza region but also across the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB), where Vihiga is among the 14-member Counties, with key focus areas being ICT, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Manufacturing and Blue Economy.
The conference marks a significant milestone in the region’s economic growth agenda by providing a platform for regional leaders, professionals and stakeholders at the International, National and local levels to showcase the economic potential of the region and present investment opportunities to potential investors.
This is in line with the government’s broader agenda to decentralize economic growth and create job opportunities by leveraging the untapped potential of Counties in Nyanza and Western Kenya.
While participating in a panel discussion on ‘Technologies and Innovation as an Enabler of Development’, I gave a brief on how Counties have used the Geospatial Information System (GIS) to collect data, analyze and make investment decisions in real time, with a case study of Vihiga County.
I also emphasized on the need to put in place proper adaptation and mitigation measures to address matters Climate Change when it comes to investment.
