Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) and USAID Nuru ya Mtoto

Today, H.E. Wilberforce Kitiezo – Deputy Governor Vihiga County on behalf of Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo hosted officials from USAID implementing partners; Momentum Country and Global Leadership (MCGL) and USAID Nuru ya Mtoto.
The delegation led by Dr Gathari held consultative meetings with the County Health Management Team (CHMT) and later on with the leadership of Vihiga County Referral Hospital
The visit comes in the wake of the recent recession of the US Government Stop Work Order, which had previously disrupted key health service delivery areas including Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health and Family Planning (RMNCAH/FP), HIV programs, Health financing, training and mentorship, M&E, and Human Resource for Health (HRH) functions.
The USAID Kenya team reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Vihiga County’s health sector, with a focus on integration and capacity building to ensure sustainability of services beyond the life of the current support programs.
The team also conducted a tour of the Vihiga Teaching and Referral Hospital (VTRH) as part of their assessment to strengthen ongoing collaborations.
The Deputy Governor, appreciated the sustained communication and engagement by USAID team and their implementing partners which has been instrumental in minimizing service disruptions and continuing progress in delivering quality health services to the people of Vihiga.
