OFFICIAL GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY OF A MODEL MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH CENTRE

Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo today played host to Safaricom Foundation Chairman Joseph Ogutu during the official groundbreaking ceremony of a Model Maternal and Child Health Centre at the Vihiga County Referral Hospital grounds, sponsored by M-Pesa Foundation

The facility is designed to host a Theatre, Newborn Unit, Kangaroo room, Labour ward, Delivery room and Post-Natal ward to offer quality maternal Healthcare services to our mothers.

Governor Ottichilo took the opportunity to appreciate the partnership between County Government of Vihiga and Safaricom Mpesa Foundation that will provide sufficient facilities to curb maternal mortalities because no mother deserves to die when bringing forth life.

He added that his keen interest in maternal health has made his administration put in place more initiatives that have reduced maternal mortality rates in Vihiga.

On his part, Joseph Ogutu noted that the facility will be constructed and equipped at a cost of Kshs. 60M within 8 months.
