STRENGTHENING RURAL GOVERNANCE FOR THE RIGHT TO ADEQUATE FOOD
A team from The Institute of Social Accountability (TISA) and Welthungerhilfe (WHH) led by Alexander Riithi (TISA Head of Programs) has this evening paid a courtesy call to Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo.
TISA in partnership WHH are implementing Phase 2 of the “Strengthening Rural Governance for the Right to Adequate Food” project in Vihiga County, an initiative that seeks to ensure vulnerable food and nutrition insecure populations have improved access to adequate food through a rights-based approach.
Following successful implementation of Phase 1 of the project, where over 23,700 residents in Vihiga were empowered on their food rights and entitlements, Governor Ottichilo has encouraged TISA to work with his administration through Departments of Agriculture, Cooperatives and Youth to come up with a strategic plan and identify key areas of collaboration for proper implementation of the project.
The Governor also emphasized on the need to involve youth in the program for them to gain more skills and knowledge in Agricultural production and Agri-business.
