“We Have Confidence in The Governor” – Vihiga Stakeholders

Stakeholders from Vihiga County have thrown their support behind Governor Wilber Ottichilo.

In a press briefing at Maseno Club, the stakeholders drawn from the construction industry, sports and civil society termed the impending impeachment of Governor Ottichilo as malicious.

In a statement read by Mr. Kelvin Mwangu, the group said they fully believe Governor Ottichilo has initiated many development projects in the County despite perennial delays in release of funds from the exchequer. ” The Governor has initiated many development projects from lighting of market centres, construction of roads and bridges, improvement in the health sector among other things, it is surprising that some Members of the County Assembly want to impeach him”, said Mwangu.

They took issue with the procedure the MCAs took in crafting notice of motion for impeachment of the Governor.

Mwibona Ward rep Zakayo Manyasa with his Luanda South counterpart Peter Alukutsa said as elected leaders they will stick with the Governor terming the intended impeachment as inconsequential. “I represent my people of Luanda South and so far they are in support of Governor’s development record, i therefore see no need of supporting impeachment of a Governor who is working for his people”, said Alukutsa.

They urged their counterparts at the County Assembly to embrace dialogue before contemplating impeachment.
