Fumigation of Market Centres in Vihiga to Commence

As a way of combating Covid-19 within the County, fumigation of market centres across the county will commence next week.

Speaking to the press after a County Covid-19 Emergency Response consultative forum held today at Roddy’s Eco Lounge in Luanda, Vihiga Governor Dr Wilber Ottichilo said his government is leaving nothing to chance regarding the pandemic. He said his government is committed to ensuring Vihiga County is Covid-19 free.

The County boss added that the pandemic has posed lots of challenges to the health sector, one of them being lack of enough medical staff. The Public Service Commission (PSC) has allocated Vihiga County 124 slots for recruitment of nurses and clinical officers, a process Dr. Ottichilo said will be done by the commission in conjunction with the Vihiga County Public Service Board.

The consultative meeting had Members of the County Assembly who were brought to speed on what the County Executive has done so far with regards to combating Covid-19. The Governor was grateful to the Members of the County Assembly for adopting proposals and Covid-19 funds captured in the supplementary budget for the fourth quarter of this financial year.
