AGRI-PRENEURS

Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries through the National Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) has officially commenced a three-day training program for the recently recruited 175 Agri-Preneurs across the County.

‎The training aims to equip the aspiring Agri-preneurs with essential tools, knowledge, skills and practical techniques to enable them conduct the following for a period of 18 months:

Registration and profiling of farming households

‎

Registration and profiling of none household farms (large, commercial, institutional, cooperatives farms, greenhouses and ranches)

‎

Profiling and registration of other value chain actors

‎

Mapping and taking the GPS of all agricultural farms in the ward

‎

Collection of routine data as well as farmers transactional data

‎

‎The overall goal of this training is to establish a comprehensive national register for Kenyan farmers at the household level that will serve as a valuable resource for both National and County Governments, enabling them to formulate effective policies and development interventions for farmers.

Ultimately, this initiative aims to provide targeted support and enhance the overall development of Kenya’s Agricultural sector.

‎County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture Nicholas Kitungulu emphasized the importance of farmers working closely with the Agri-preneurs during their farm visits.

Additionally, he said the collaboration is crucial for transforming the County’s farming methods from subsistence-based farming to highly productive Agri-business farming aimed at not only securing sufficient food supplies but also boosting profitability for the farmers.

To facilitate smooth interactions, the Agri-preneurs will wear distinctively labelled uniforms and badges for easy recognition.
