3RD COHORT OF THE GOVERNOR’S SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME POST EXEMPLARY RESULTS

Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo met with students from the 3rd cohort of the Governor’s Scholarship today at the county headquarters, to celebrate their exemplary performance from the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
A total of 126 students, fully sponsored by the County Government of Vihiga – Governor’s Scholarship Programme, sat the 2024 KCSE exams with 116 attaining Mean Grade C+ and above, translating to 92.8% eligibility for university entry.
Master David Obeya from Murang’a High School attained the only A grade of 84 points and is currently undergoing career training with Equity Bank before he joins the university.
Governor Ottichilo expressed his pride for the students’ performance and congratulated them for putting Vihiga on the map. He awarded the students with certificates and tokens, promising to continue supporting their thirst for education in the future.
During the same event, the Governor received triumphant trophies from Maseno (2), Gimomoi (1), Keveye (2) and Mwambeba (3) Vocational Training Collages, awarded from the concluded music festivals that were held in Eldoret last year.
SUMMARY OF THE RESULTS OF THE THE GOVERNOR’S SCHOLARSHIP: 2024 KCSE CANDIDATES
- 126 students were enrolled on the Governor’s scholarship in January 2021 after sitting for their 2020 KCPE examination.
These consisted of 78 boys and 48 girls.
- A total of 125 students sat for the 2024 KCSE examination 78 boys and 47 girls.
Distribution of candidates’ scores
- 116 students scored C+ (Plus) and above.
- This represented 92.8% Direct University Entry
- Nine (9) students representing 7. 2% scored below C+. This lot will transit to VTCs and other middle level institutions.
- One male student scored an A of 84 Points
- 16 Candidates scored A- (minus) – 13 males and 3 females.
- 26 Candidates scored B+ (Plus) – 17 males and 9 females.
- 31 Candidates scored B (Plain) – 18 males and 13 females.
- 24 Candidates scored B- (Minus) – 16 males and 8 females
- 17 Candidates scored C+ (Plus) – 9 males and 8 females
- 6 students score C – 2 males and 4 females
- 2 males scored C-
NOTE
- 74 Boys out of 78 Boys scored C+ and above representing 94.87%
- 41 Girls out of 47 Girls scored C+ and above representing 87.23%
- Overall, Boys performed better than Girls
