CONSIGNMENT OF 450 BIRDS AND 450 PREDATOR NETS FROM NORAD/ARNSA

The County Government of Vihiga‘s Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries today received a consignment of 450 birds and 450 predator nets from NORAD/ARNSA (Advancing Resilient Nutrition Sensitive Aquaculture project) at Nyango’ri Boys High School.
The nets are part of the implementation phase of the NORAD project set to benefit the already mapped 450 fish farmers across the County.
With a measurement of 4 Metres by 50 Metres, the nets are designed to protect fish from potential threats and made from 100% High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) material to ensure durability and resilience.
Similarly, the bird nets, which are essential for safeguarding the fish farms from birds, measure 20M by 15M and are also made from 100% HDPE material.
In his remarks, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture Hon Nicholas Kitungulu noted that fish farmers are excited and eager to enhance aquaculture farming through the NORAD project.
This initiative represents a collaborative effort to enhance fish farming practices in the County which will contribute to the county’s economic growth and sustainability.
