VIHIGA COUNTY CLIMATE CHANGE ACT, 2025

The Act provides mechanisms for mobilizing finances and facilitating the County Government, communities and other stakeholders to respond effectively to Climate Change.

Moreover, it guides on measures and actions for responding to Climate Change and clearly spells out duties of both public and private entities in Vihiga with regards to Climate Action.

“What we are doing is a global effort that has set up an important milestone.

The Climate Change Fund Act, which is already in place was not looking at the wholistic view of Climate Change and therefore the Climate Change Act 2025 will cater for this fully.

Therefore am grateful to the assembly and Department of Environment for fast tracking this process,” Said the Governor.

While representing the County Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker Eric Odei applauded the County Government for embracing public participation that ensures the local community is greatly involved.
