Framework Agreement

The County Government of Vihiga today signed Collaboration Framework Agreement with Rural Electrification & Renewable Energy Corporation – Kenya (REREC), that will realise energy supply in Vihiga under REREC’s Matching Fund Programme.
REREC has an expanded mandate of spearheading Kenya’s green energy drive, in addition to implementing rural electrification projects.
Today’s Framework Agreement builds up on the previous partnership that saw 25 high mast market lights installed across Vihiga County under their Matching Fund Programme.

The meeting also deliberated on the potential benefits Vihiga can accrue from Carbon Credit. Carbon markets can offer significant financial and economic benefits to counties, especially those actively engaging in sustainable practices. Vihiga’s investments in sustainable energy together with collaborations with REREC, positions our County strategically on the path of benefitting from the Carbon Markets.
