Vihiga County Teaching and Referral Hospital (VCTRH) Bill, 2025

Once gazetted into law, the bill will provide a legal framework for the establishment of a Vihiga Teaching and Referral Hospital, a move that will see the facility operate autonomously.

The VCTRH will;

Receive patients on referral from other hospitals or institutions within or outside Vihiga County for specialized HealthCare

Provide facilities for medical education to institutions of higher learning and for research either directly or through other cooperating health institutions

Provide facilities for education and training in nursing and other related health sciences

While giving his remarks, Governor Ottichilo expressed confidence in the establishment of the VCTRH, terming it a big milestone that will transform the Healthcare system in Vihiga through provision of quality services to residents.

He further added that operationalization of the act will optimize operations, streamline service delivery and create opportunities for VTRH to enter into partnerships for development purposes.
