Training Session

Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries through the National Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) has concluded an intensive three-day training session for Sustainable Land Management Committees across the County, a step in the realization and implementation of the project.
‎During the training, the committees were taken through various crucial topics, including soil and water conservation, that encompasses identification and design of effective soil conservation structures.
‎Additionally, they learnt on how to identify and design sites for farm ponds, as well as the skills necessary to utilize basic tools for soil and water conservation effectively.
‎Moreover, the training addressed challenges of land degradation, emphasizing on the core principles of sustainable land management to mitigate these issues.
‎Attendees also explored basic Agronomic practices designed to control soil erosion, gaining insights into Agroforestry and production of fodder. Finally, the participants were introduced to proper soil sampling techniques, which are essential for assessing and enhancing soil health.
‎The Committees have now been tasked to disseminate information learnt to farmers at grassroots level hence empowering them to enhance farm productivity and sustainability through improved practices.
