OUR POSITION ON THE COUNTY ANTHEM DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE IN VIHIGA

The County Government of Vihiga would like to offer clarification concerning the ongoing development of the Vihiga County Anthem, considering inquiries and the feedback received from members of the public.

BUDGETARY ALLOCATION

In the Approved FY 2024-2025 Budget, KES 1 million was allocated under budget code 2211399 (Other Operating Expenses- County Anthem) towards establishment of the County Anthem.

During the 1st Supplementary Budget FY 2024-2025, the Cabinet Approved an increment of KES 3 million, bringing the allocation to a total of KES 4 million.

However, during the approval of the 1st Supplementary budget by the County Assembly the allocation was reduced by KES 2 million, as observed in Recommendation 10, from the Report of the Budget and Appropriations Committee on Supplementary Estimates No.1 for FY 2024/2025.

In the Approved Budget Estimates FY 2025/2026 (Current Fiscal year), the Cabinet approved an allocation of KES 3.8 million, however after approval by the County Assembly the allocation was reduced to KES 800,000 as observed in Recommendation No.6 from the Report of the Budget and Appropriations Committee on Budget Estimates for FY 2025/2026.

This therefore means that, the total budgetary allocation on the County Anthem in the financial years 2024/25 and 2025/26 amounts to KES 2.8 million Only.
