STEERING COMMITTEE

Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo today chaired a meeting for the Steering Committee tasked to oversee the implementation of the collaborative framework between County Government of Vihiga and the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC).

In the meeting, the Steering and Technical Committees gave updates of the progress so far since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 9th April 2025.

Key interventions as outlined in the presented work plan included solarization of Water Schemes, streetlights and Health Facilities, which have been experiencing challenges of high electricity bills and promotion of clean energy at the community level.

‎In his remarks, Dr. Ottichilo mentioned that the project would enable the County address the rural electrification and renewable energy needs in line with the County’s CIDP, ADP and the County Energy Plan.

He then tasked the committees to fast track implementation of the MoU as per the implementation schedule that was presented, commending the technical committee on the good progress made so far.
