VALIDATION PROCESS TO ESTABLISH LUANDA AND CHEPTULU-KAIMOSI MUNICIPALITIES

County Government of Vihiga through the Department of Physical Planning, Lands, Housing and Urban Development has commenced a twenty one-day validation exercise that will see Luanda and Cheptulu-Kaimosi established as municipalities.

‎Through the recently sworn in Ad Hoc committees, stakeholder forums were today conducted in the respective areas where engagements revolved around various Acts of Parliament in the Constitution such as the

Urban Areas and Cities Act and the Physical and Land Use Act.

Boundaries, facilities, population among other requirements that merit for municipalities were also discussed to ensure the transition process is inclusive and reflects the needs and aspirations of the locals.

The committees are expected to hand over validation reports to Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo upon completion, which will in turn be tabled at the Vihiga County Assembly for approval of the two awaited municipalities.
