DELEGATION FROM SANGAM MILK PRODUCER COMPANY BASED IN GUNTUR, INDIA.

The County Government of Vihiga led by the Governor Dr. Wilber Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo and H.E. Wilberforce Kitiezo – Deputy Governor Vihiga County has today received a delegation from Sangam Milk Producer Company based in Guntur, India.
The delegation led by the Sangam Milk Producer Company Chairperson Shri Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar and Managing Director Mr. Gopalakrishnan Pazhayaveetil is in the County to explore a strategic partnership aimed at establishing a milk processing plant. The plant to be set up in line with the County Integrated Development Plan (2023 – 2027) and UN Sustainable Development Goals target 2.3 will be used for the purposes of processing, value addition, and marketing on a commercial level.
Governor Ottichilo expressed gratitude to the delegation for honoring their promise to visit Vihiga County following his trip to India in the company of a team from the County in May. He emphasized the vast potential within Vihiga to increase milk production beyond the current 102,000 litres daily, should farmers adopt commercial dairy farming practices.
“We, as a government, have created an enabling environment for the dairy cooperative societies by giving them the necessary equipment like coolers,” said Governor Ottichilo.
The delegation set to present their reports tomorrow visited dairy farmers across the County including Angote Chris from Emusutswi producing 300 litres per day, Sabatia Dairy Farm producing 500 litres a day, Zachariah Musalia from Upperhill Dairy Farm producing 180-200 litres a day, and Lupean Dairy and Poultry Farm in Inyali producing 300 litres a day.
The engagement with Sangam Milk Producer Company Limited was made possible through an existing MoU with Velocity Project Management Limited represented by Hari Murthi who was present during the visit.
