VACCINATION FRAMEWORK

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and the Department of Commerce, Tourism and Cooperatives are strengthening the county’s local capacity to deliver sustainable livestock value chain services and to operationalize the proposed county-based e-voucher vaccination framework.
The County Executive Committee Member for Commerce, Tourism and Cooperatives Joseph Lunani while speaking to Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) who will be the main mobilizers of the vaccination process, explained that the system is designed to register livestock farmers by creating a central database of livestock farmers to ensure accurate allocation of vaccines and track vaccinated livestock to enable the county government to track animals and maintain records for livestock owners.
He further noted that the framework aims to provide subsidies for vaccines, making them more accessible to farmers and promoting the growth of the livestock sector.
The e-voucher system will enhance the county government’s ability to track and control diseases like foot and mouth and streamline the vaccination process thereby reducing administrative burdens and costs.
