SENSITIZATION

The County Government of Vihiga, through the Department of Health Services in collaboration with Nutrition International, held an engagement meeting with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to sensitize them on the Vihiga County Food and Nutrition Security Bill today.

The meeting brought together the County Assembly Leadership, the Health Committee, and the secretariat to discuss the provisions of the Bill and gather their views and recommendations.

The Department of Health has been working in partnership with Nutrition International to create an enabling environment for the sustainable implementation of nutrition interventions through supportive policy and regulatory frameworks. The County has been developing the Vihiga Food and Nutrition Security Bill to complement the existing Nutrition Policy. The process is nearing completion, with the Bill currently before the County Assembly for final legal procedures following its publication under the Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 13 (Vihiga County Bills No.

Members of County Assembly (MCAs) expressed their commitment to supporting the conclusion of this process, recognizing it as a critical step towards achieving a healthier and more food- and nutrition-secure county.
