TRAINING TO HEALTH CARE WORKERS (HCWS)

The Department of Health Services has today concluded a two-day training to health care workers (HCWs) rendering services in Maternal Child Health clinics (MCH) on the new vaccination schedule for malaria, HPV and IPV vaccines. Under the revised schedule, the malaria vaccine will transition from RTSS to R-21, the injectable inactivated polio (IPV) vaccine will now be administered in two doses at 14 weeks and 9 months, while the HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine will be given as a single dose at 10 years.
The training also brought on board HCWs working in different service delivery points and students on attachment, giving them an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the updated immunization guidelines. Vaccination remains a key component of preventive healthcare, helping to protect communities from life-threatening diseases and enhance overall public health outcomes.
