MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU)

On 9th September 2025, County Government of Vihiga signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M-Taka Waste Solutions Limited.
As part of the MoU’s implementation framework, a capacity building exercise was conducted for Waste actors and Service providers across the County to establish a collaborative approach into the Waste management system for sustainable solid waste management.
Additionally, the team was empowered on waste enterprises and financial literacy.
This training is crucial in curbing solid waste management challenges among them being illegal dumping and low levels of awareness on responsible waste handling.
The partnership with M-Taka comes timely to improve waste segregation at source, promote recycling and upcycling of solid waste and to facilitate access to markets for value added waste products in the County.
County Government of Vihiga will also leverage on M-Taka’s expertise to establish a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) that will enhance waste segregation, material recovery and recycling and provide employment opportunities for residents.
