GENEXPERT MACHINE

The Department of Health Services, in partnership with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has installed a GeneXpert machine at Emusire Sub-County Hospital to support the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) and the detection of rifampicin-resistant TB.
The machine uses molecular technology to identify TB bacteria within one hour, enabling timely treatment and better management to curb further transmission.
The GeneXpert machine also supports testing for a wide range of conditions beyond TB including COVID-19, HIV (viral load and EID), influenza, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), bacterial infections, HPV, and several other sexually transmitted infections.
