OFFICIAL RESIDENCES

Vihiga County Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo today officially opened the Governor’s and Deputy Governor’s official residences in the company of his Deputy Governor, H.E. Wilberforce Kitiezo – Deputy Governor Vihiga County.
Speaking during the event, Governor Ottichilo expressed his satisfaction with the location of the residences, noting that they have been constructed in a central place, which he said enhances accessibility and administrative coordination.
The Governor further announced that the County Government will convene a stakeholders’ meeting in mid-February, during which a mid-term review of the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) will be undertaken. He emphasized that the review will provide an opportunity to assess progress made so far and align county priorities with the needs of residents.
Dr. Ottichilo reaffirmed that Vihiga County remains united and stable, adding that the county has the necessary laws and institutional structures in place to support good governance and service delivery.
He also called upon the clergy to play an active role in promoting cohesion by speaking out against clannism. The Governor urged residents of Vihiga County to embrace unity and to elect leaders based on leadership ability and managerial competence rather than divisive considerations.
Vihiga County is among the few counties in the country that have established official residences for both the Governor and the Deputy Governor, reflecting efforts to strengthen institutional leadership and county governance.
