AQUACULTURE BUSINESS AMONG TOP BENEFICIARIES AS GOVERNOR OTTICHILO ASSENTS TO THE VIHIGA COUNTY FINANCE BILL, 2025

Vihiga County Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo this morning assented to the Vihiga County Finance Bill, 2025 at the County Headquarters, in an event attended by members of the County Executive and the County Assembly, led by Deputy Speaker Eric Odei.
The Bill, which underwent a rigorous public participation process, introduces several measures aimed at supporting key sectors of the county economy. Notably, it provides a boost to aquaculture by reducing the cost of fingerlings from Kshs. 7 to Kshs. 5.
Additionally, the bill has seen reduction in market levies for loading and offloading of Agricultural products. The County Government has increased license fees for scrap metal dealers in a bid to streamline the industry following increased cases of vandalism on government infrastructure.
Speaking at the County Headquarters, Governor Ottichilo noted that the plastics industry has attracted significant investor interest, prompting the County Government to introduce levies on the collection of plastic materials.
