COUNTY ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE

Established by law and mandated to oversee all matters environment in the County, the County Environment Committee (CEC) converged for two days for their quarterly meeting at Sosa Cottages in Gisambai ward.
Chaired by the CECM Environment, Water, Energy, Natural Resources and Climate Change Dr. Jairus Amayi, the committee reviewed the progress of developments in the Environment sector and identified emerging challenges for redress.
The CEC also visited various areas in the County to determine challenges around the extractive and mining sector, waste management, public infrastructure , sanitation, Climate Change and assess impacts of Climate Resilience projects among other interventions so far activated.
Some of the sites visited include; Chambiti PlanetGold Mercury free Gold processing centre, Jeblebuk Quarry, Ebuyangu landfill, Ebusiekwe Appiary, Ipali Water project, Buhani irrigation scheme and South Maragoli Honey processing project.
