A delegation from Ustadi Foundation led by the Chief Executive Officer Mr. George Mazuri this evening paid a courtesy call to the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Gender, Culture, Youth, Sports, and Social Services, Hon. Anne Desma Chilade.
The Foundation partners with Mastercard and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to empower youths and women through various programs.
During the meeting, County Executive Committee Member emphasized the importance of partnering with the department to implement several significant initiatives that will ensure equal opportunities for the youth in the county. These initiatives include:
Developing a comprehensive Governance framework, which involves operationalizing a youth Coordination framework and integrating gender mainstreaming.
Launching the “Vijana na Biashara” program to promote youth entrepreneurship.
Empowering youth groups to foster their growth and development.
Assisting in drafting business plans to guide young entrepreneurs.
Facilitating self and wage employment opportunities for youths through the “Jobs Open for Youths” program.
Supporting the establishment of the Vihiga Film Production Hub by developing concepts and business plans, and connecting with partners to provide necessary equipment.
Moreover, the department plans to collaborate with the Department of Education and Vocational Training. This partnership aims to ensure that youths who complete their Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) receive job placements and capacity-building opportunities, enhancing their skills and boosting their employability.
