Cure Cervical Cancer

A team from Cure Cervical Cancer – curecervicalcancer.org this morning paid a courtesy call to H.E. Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo at his office in the County Headquarters to share progress of their activities in the County following an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in December 2024.

In partnership with Department of Health Service, Cure Cervical Cancer Organisation has conducted Screening for Women of reproductive age, Training of Community Health Promoters (CHPs) on community screening for Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and capacity building for healthcare workers.

The team has also carried out advocacy and sensitization at community level on Cervical Cancer prevention and treatment.

During the pilot study, Cure Cervical Cancer has screened over 4,000 women in Luanda South where 1050 had HPV positive results and were treated,12 had suspicious for cancer lesions and were reffered

Dr. Ottichilo took the opportunity to appreciate Cure Cervical Cancer for providing the services to vihiga residents which go towards saving lives of women requesting the organization to consider scaling out the program to the entire county.

The organization is now rolling out the program to the other 4 wards in Luanda Sub County in the second phase.
