FIRST SCIENCE FAIR

Kaimosi Friends University (KAFU) today hosted its First Science Fair and University Open Day, a landmark event aimed at advancing research, science, technology, and innovation in the region.
Guided by the theme “Empowering Communities through Research, Science, Technology, and Innovation,” the fair brought together students, alumni, faculty, county government officials, and development partners.
Speaking during the fair, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Science, Technical, and Vocational Training, Anne C. Desma noted that the fair presents a valuable opportunity for the County Government to establish strong partnerships with the university in building a skilled, knowledgeable, and innovative workforce through our learning and technical institutions that will drive the economic transformation of our county.
The County Government of Vihiga and KAFU aim to work together in the following areas:
Joint Research Projects in agriculture, renewable energy, public health, and education.
Technology and Innovation Hubs through the creation of incubation centers to nurture student-led projects and support digital entrepreneurship.
STEM Promotion – Creating county-backed mentorship programs for young learners to grow interest in science and innovation.
Policy and Knowledge Sharing – Providing evidence-based data to guide county planning and decision-making.
