INCLUSION GRANT

The Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries through National Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) has today issued an inclusion grant of Kshs. 5M to leaders of Community Driven Development Committees (CDDCs) and Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) across the newly onboarded wards that have joined the project.

‎The recent additions; Muhudu, Jepkoyai, Wodanga, Chavakali and Luanda Township, join other 20 wards that have previously benefited from this inclusion grant.

‎As part of this initiative, the CDDCs are tasked with establishing a project account through which the allocated funds will be deposited, subsequently accessible to SACCOs and later made available to members.

‎Speaking during the launch of the inclusion grant, Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo commended the SACCO movement in Vihiga for its vital role in improving members’ livelihoods through Savings and Dividends.

Furthermore, he urged farmers to join Cooperatives to streamline the collection and marketing processes for their Agricultural products.

‎Chief Officer in charge of Agriculture, Dr. Betty Mulianga emphasized on the importance of mobilizing local residents to become members of SACCOs, encouraging them to make deposits to qualify for a larger matching grant.
