MAZINGIRA DAY CELEBRATIONS 2025

Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo joined Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) Hon Musalia W Mudavadi at Inyanza area of Maragoli Hills Forest in South Maragoli Ward, Vihiga Sub County for a tree growing exercise to mark the Mazingira Day celebrations.

Dr. Ottichilo applauded PCS Musalia for his dedication and commitment towards restoration of the Maragoli Hills Forest, reiterating that his administration will continue working with the National Government and other partners in bringing the forest back to life.

He added that County Government of Vihiga will partner with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry in developing an Intergrated Forest Management Plan for proper management of the ecosystem and ensure the community benefits from the forest through activities such as Eco-Tourism.

Dr. Musalia on his part noted that the tree growing exercise underscores President William Ruto’s 15 Billion tree initiative and the choice of Maragoli Hills is for the urgent need to restore the ravaged forest for present and future environmental benefits.
