NAVCDP

The National Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) led by the County Project Coordinator Charles Aluda convened a consultative meeting with leaders of the Community Driven Development Committees (CDDCs) and Social Accountability Integrity Committees (SAICs) across the County.
The meeting was focused on the progress of Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs), Common Interest Groups (CIGs) and Vulnerable and Marginilized Groups (VMGs).
CDDCs ensure strong interlinkages between CIGs/VMGs, Farmers Producer Groups (FPOs) and SACCOs. They also oversee the disbursement of project grants and reviewing SACCOs proposals.
Currently;
All the 25 wards across the County have registered SACCOs.
Registered members in the SACCOs are 13,000.
Registered CIGs in the SACCOs are 500.
Registered CIGs in the county are more than 3000.
16 Farmer Producer Groups (FPO) with one under construction.
Total deposits in the SACCOs are KSHS 14 million.
Loans given out through SACCOs are KSHS 7 million.
Chief Officer Agriculture Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Betty Mulianga called for collaborative efforts in ensuring the project is beneficial and all it’s goals actualized in the end. Dr. Betty also encouraged farmers to join and save the SACCOs for them to get loans at lower interests to improve their livelihoods.
