REVIEW FEEDBACK

The County Government of Vihiga, in partnership with Maziwa Foundation, held a dissemination meeting to review feedback from a recent survey conducted among breastfeeding mothers.
The survey, carried out through the Department of Health Services, revealed that 83 percent of mothers in Vihiga are knowledgeable about breastfeeding, while also highlighting the need to address existing myths and misconceptions that hinder proper breastfeeding practices.
Through this collaboration, the County Government and Maziwa Foundation seek to further evaluate breastfeeding and complementary feeding habits among mothers with young children, assess the frequency and methods of breast milk expression, and train more Community-Based Ambassadors (CBAs) across various community units. Additionally, the partnership aims to roll out awareness campaigns to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding breastfeeding and promote better infant nutrition across the county.
