SENSITIZATION FORUM

Health remains our top priority for the well-being of our people through provision of affordable, available and accessible healthcare services. In this regard, the Department of Health Services today organized a sensitization forum for all Health Facility In-Charges and Board Chairpersons at Vihiga Friends Resource Centre, Vihiga Sub County.

While presiding over the forum, Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo applauded the initiative, terming it an empowerment forum that will help the Facility managers understand their critical role in management and operationalization of Health facilities across the County.

With Health financing having shifted to output-based, the Governor has called on the managers to work with the community to recruit and register their catchment population into the Social Health Authority (SHA). This he said, will enable facilities generate funds through SHA for the services they provide and guaranteed sustainability.

According to the County Boss, Vihiga has a Facilities Improvement Fund (FIF) law in place that allows facilities to spend money at source thus enhancing effective and efficient service delivery.
