STAKEHOLDERS

The Department of Environment Water Energy Natural Resources & Climate Change in close collaboration with key stakeholders such as the Kenya Wildlife Service, County Government of Kakamega, the The National Environment Trust Fund, Rhino Ark Kenya Charitable Trust and the M-Pesa Foundation initiated a comprehensive effort to fence the Kibiri Forest in a bid to enhance conservation and protect the forest ecosystem.
County Government of Vihiga has demonstrated strong commitment to this course by allocating Kshs. 30M towards the progressive fencing initiative with a series of monthly consultative meetings being held to deliberate on the procurement and logistics of fencing materials.
Fence inspection is also conducted jointly by all involved stakeholders to ensure strict adherence to the highest quality standards and implementation of best practices.
This collaborative approach promotes transparency, accountability and technical accuracy throughout the construction process.
All in all, this strategic collaboration amongst partners is expected to curb illegal encroachments, promote biodiversity conservation and secure the forest for future generations while reinforcing community involvement in environmental stewardship.
