TRAINING PROGRAM ON FARMER FIELD BUSINESS SCHOOL (FFBS) FOR COMMUNITY BASED FACILITATORS (CBFS)

In an effort to provide farmers with practical training and essential knowledge aimed at enhancing their crop yields, the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries in partnership with National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) concluded a 21-day training program on Farmer Field Business School (FFBS) for Community Based Facilitators (CBFs).
‎Culminating into graduation of trainees, the training is in line with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Global Field Schools Support Programme.
‎Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Vihiga Deputy Governor Wilberforce Kitiezo congratulated the graduands, urging them to empower other farmers as they go to the field.
‎According to the NAVCDP County Project Coordinator Charles Aluda, the CBFs were trained on;
✅ The basic principles and objectives of FFBS
✅ Experimentation in FFS employing agroecosystem analysis (AESA), Livestock Ecosystem analysis (LESA) and Poultry Ecosystem Analysis (PESA) field recording tools
✅ Setting up and establishing Participatory Technology Development (PTDs)
✅ Markets assessment and surveys
✅ Principles of adult learning leveraging on experimental learning theory
