Vihiga County Climate Change Action
The Directorate of Climate Change is in the process of finalizing the Vihiga County Climate Change
Action. The action plan is meant to guide implementation of community prioritised climate actions in the county.
The Action plan preparation process is building on the PCRA process which enabled communities
identify Climate Change risks in their wards and suggested possible response actions.
The Chief Officer in charge of Environment Dr. Richard Boiyo led officers from the Climate Change
Directorate in a validation workshop with the Vihiga County Assembly Environment Committee
members to analyze the community prioritized risks and response actions and validate the Climate
Change response actions for cross sectoral implementation.
Having completed community engagement at ward level and Climate Change Action Plan writing
workshops, Climate Change Response Actions and views of the members of the County Assembly will be
incorporated into the County Climate Change Action Plan, County Integrated Development Plan and
National Climate Change Action Plan for relevant and coordinated County and National response to
Climate Change.
The Vihiga County Climate Change Action will proceed for publication upon approval by the County
Assembly.
