VIHIGA COUNTY INDUCTS ALCOHOLIC DRINKS COMMITTEES

The Department of Public Service Management and ICT through the Directorate of Alcoholic Drinks Control conducted a three-day induction programme for the County Alcoholic Drinks Committees.
The committees were taken through;
1. The Vihiga County Alcoholic Drinks Control and Regulations Act 2014
2. The Vihiga County Alcoholic Drinks Fund Regulations
3. Mandate and Functions of each of the committee
4. The Licensing Process
5. The Directorate’s Work Plan
6. The Roadmap for the 2026 Licensing Process
County Secretary Vincent Chanzu, who graced the occasion, emphasized the importance of the directorate with regards to control and regulation of Alcoholic drinks in the County.
He further appealed for dedication and selflessness in executing their mandate.
On his part, County Attorney Aggrey Musiega reiterated on members abiding by their Oaths of appointment, stressing on upholding of integrity and a better understanding of the Conflict of Interest Act 2025.
According to the Department’s Chief Officer Philip Gavuna, the Directorate has set a revenue target of Ksh.10M for this FY 2025/26 and is keen on ensuring that this sector is well coordinated.
During the session, members of the newly-established Tiriki East and Hamisi Sub County committees were officially sworn in.
