Vihiga Facilities Improvement Financing Bill 2025

Governor Dr. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo has today morning assented to the Vihiga Facilities Improvement Financing Bill 2025.
This new legislation replaces the Facilities Improvement Financing Bill 2020, which has been in operation for nearly five years with the primary goal of enhancing the health facilities throughout the County.
The newly enacted Bill stipulates that revenue generated by health facilities will be managed through their respective bank accounts, ensuring a transparent and accountable spending process that aligns with the Finance and Management Act guidelines.
The funds will be directed towards essential operational expenses such as paying casual workers, settling electricity bills, purchasing needed medication among other bills.
Speaking during the event, Governor Ottichilo emphasized its importance as a method of implementing Universal Health Care coverage, commending Vihiga for being among the leading counties to implement the Facilities Improvement Financing initiative.
Additionally, he urged relevant stakeholders to collaborate effectively to increase SHA registration from the current 25% since reimbursement to Healthcare facilities by SHA will depend on the number of patients they treat.
