Hon. Maruja emphasized the County Government’s commitment to combating NTDs through enhanced surveillance, mass drug administration, community education, and improved access to clean water and sanitation.
The County Government of Vihiga is committed to stepping up interventions aimed at reducing the burden of diseases such as schistosomiasis, soil-transmitted helminths, jiggers, and intestinal worms which continue to pose health challenges in endemic areas.
Speaking at the event, public health experts underscored the importance of community involvement in disease prevention, urging residents to embrace hygiene practices and seek timely medical intervention. Testimonies from individuals who have benefited from treatment programs further reinforced the need for sustained collaborative efforts in the fight against NTDs.
