75 ADDITIONAL REVENUE OFFICERS RECRUITED TO BOOST COLLECTION

County Government of Vihiga through the Department of Finance and Economic Planning recently hired more than 75 Revenue Clerks to enhance the current human resource working towards boosting revenue collection.

The officers also underwent a three-day induction workshop on Revenue automation, Public Relations skills, Communication channels, Dress code, Revenue Enhancement Measures, Revenue Reporting and stream framework.

It’s worth noting that during the 2021/2022 Financial Year, Vihiga emerged position 4 out of 47 in terms of counties that surpassed their revenue collection targets, with an increase of Kshs. 6M on the set target of Kshs. 230M.

The Department has also gone paperless through establishment of an automated revenue collection system, a move that will see Vihiga realize its potential of collecting Kshs. 500M per Financial Year thus impacting our local economy positively.

As a result, several counties amongst them Kakamega have come to benchmark in Vihiga not only on matters revenue collection but also on the Facility Improvement Fund which has seen health facilities in Vihiga experience tremendous improvement in infrastructure, equipping and service delivery.

The County’s Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) has also played a key role in mapping out key revenue streams.
