GOVERNOR ASSENTS TO 1ST SUPPLEMENTARY FOR 2024/25 FY BUDGET

The bill has allocated additional funds to pay pending bills, supplementing KES 169M beyond the originally allocated KES 510M in this financial year’s budget. The supplementary budget also includes KES 77M for projects from the previous year that were not implemented but are currently ongoing.
As a result, majority of departments have seen a cut on their budgetary allocations with Office of the Governor and the Vihiga County Assembly being the most affected by budget reduction of KES 30M and KES 14M respectively.
This supplementary budget will also finance our new approach to countywide road construction and maintenance, intended to reduce budget considerations for the same, while maintaining quality and value for money on the implemented road programmes. The County Government of Vihiga is venturing away from tendering for road construction and maintenance and exploring equipment leasing/hiring for the same.
The Governor formally acknowledged and commended the County Assembly for their diligent efforts in ensuring that the bill undergoes a thorough consultative process before its passage.
