Beehives

Department of Environment Water Energy Natural Resources & Climate Change County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Onzere Mulongo today on behalf of Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo issued 160 beehives to residents of South Maragoli ward to promote Apiculture as an alternative livelihood while promoting conservation of Maragoli Hills Forest.
Funded by the Vihiga County Climate Change Fund and Financing Locally-Led Climate Action Program, Kenya, the project involves construction of two apiaries, distribution of the hives, trainings and setting up of a honey processing plant.
Also present at the event were Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries CECM Hon Kitungulu Nicholas Cecm, Chief Officer for Environment, Energy, Natural Resources and Climate Change Dr. Richard Boiyo, Director Climate Change Winstone Atamba among other officers.
