AQUACULTURE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

I launched several projects in Vihiga and Kakamega counties under the Aquaculture Business Development Programme (ABDP) implemented by the State Department for Blue Economy and Fisheries in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

In Vihiga where I was hosted by H.E. Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo E.G.H, I signed an MoU with the County Government for the commencement of projects that would strengthen the capacity of aquaculture farmers and handed over a cheque of Kshs. 69 million to support the activities.

In Kakamega, I was hosted by the Governor H.E. FCPA, Fernandes Barasa OGW and I witnessed the signing of an MoU between the County Government of Kakamega and Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) for the establishment of a research centre in the County.

Also present were senior officers from the State Department for Blue Economy and Fisheries led by PS Betsy Njagi.
