COMMUNITY INSTITUTIONS TRAINING

Deputy County Secretary Vincent Chanzu on behalf of H.E. Dr. Wilber Ottichilo officially closed a two days Community Institutions Training for the Social Accountability Integrity Committee (SAICs) at the Busia Agricultural Training Centre. A training organized by the National Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) in the Department of Agriculture Livestock and Fisheries.
‎The primary focus of the training was on understanding and implementing environmental and social safeguards, with a particular emphasis on the grievance address mechanisms. After the training, the committee members will be responsible for the crucial tasks of receiving, recording, and resolving various grievances within the community, as well as to oversight the smooth and effective implementation of the NAVCDP project at the community level, thereby ensuring community needs and concerns are adequately addressed.
‎In his closing remarks, the DCS called on the trained committee members to exercise good conduct as they interact with farmers, be accountability in all assignments given, use the right channels to communicate, ensure timely record keeping and have integrity as they do their duties.
‎Agriculture CECM Nicholas Kitungulu urged them to be ensure all equipment and resources given by the project are taken good care of and utilized well for the benefit of the group members and other farmers.
