Fumigation Exercise Begins
In a bid to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, Vihiga County has launched a fumigation exercise that will cover all market centres in the County.
Speaking during the launch, Vihiga Governor Dr Wilber Ottichilo said his administration is committed to ensuring the county is Covid-19 free.
The Governor said face masks are being made at Vocational Training Centres in the County to be distributed to Vihiga people for free. He said traders and bodaboda operators will be given first priority in the distribution of face masks because of the high level of interactions they make in line of performing their duties.
He reiterated that his government has suspended revenue collection for three months as a measure aimed at cushioning traders during the tough Covid-19 period.
Later on at night, Acting Chief officer for Medical Services Dr. Richard Boyio supervised the fumigation exercise that is being conducted by the County department of health in conjunction with the department of transport and infrastructure’s firefighting unit.
