SEXUAL GENDER VIOLENCE AND CHILDREN PROTECTION AND WELFARE POLICIES
County Government of Vihiga through the Department of Gender, Culture, Youth, Sports and Social Services has officially launched the Sexual Gender Violence and Children Protection and Welfare Policies.
Speaking during the launch, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Gender Anne Desma said the document will serve as a guiding document that will steer efforts towards a brighter, safer and more inclusive environment for every child in Vihiga County.
The Policies objectives include:
1. To strengthen the legal and policy framework to prevent, respond to, and provide accountability for Sexual and Gender Based Violence and Child Protection through laws, supportive policies and enforcement for survivors Policy Rationale.
2. Strengthen survivor support services to provide comprehensive, accessible and trauma informed care to survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence and Child protection ensuring their physical, emotional and social needs are met for their recovery and empowerment.
3. To strengthen the delivery of comprehensive, accessible and trauma informed health services for survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence and Child Protection.Ensuring timely and quality medical care including physical,sexual, reproductive and mental health support.
4. To strengthen data collection, research and analysis on Sexual Gender Based Violence and Child Protection. To improve service delivery and enhance the prevention and response strategies.
5. To strengthen collaboration and partnerships across all sectors to create a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to addressing Sexual and Gender Based Violence and Child Protection. Ensuring support services are comprehensive, integrated and sustainable.
